Manual Therapy for Pain Relief

Isn’t it worse to feel unknown pain without any bodily tissue inflammation and you don’t know how to deal with it. You’re feeling this irritating pain in your body even after taking different medications recommended by doctors. You must be suffering from musculoskeletal or neuropathic pain and disability.

When nerves fail to function normally, then the muscles connected to it undergo translation which causes an alteration in function, posture, and movement. Don’t worry! The medical field has cure to your pain.

If you’re facing joints, ligaments, tendons, or muscle pain caused by any disease then manual therapy is one of the most recommended treatments to your condition.

What is Manual Therapy?

Manual therapy is a physical treatment that involves various kinds of hands-on techniques by adding pressure to the affected area i.e. muscles and joints, to increase range of motion, improve muscle strength, repair soft tissues, decrease swelling and inflammation, and facilitate movement to improve function.

Manual therapy is performed by the professional physiotherapists on the patients suffering from motion impairments facing a lack of mobility in certain musculoskeletal conditions. At different speeds and forces, therapists measure bones and joints move to relieve the patient from discomfort and pain. This health care profession involves different techniques to restore function in the treated area.

Techniques used in manual therapy:

Depending upon the patient’s conditions, the following are the pain management techniques performed to cure.

  • Joint Mobilization involves the pressure applied by the therapist under the various speeds and amplitudes on the spinal and extremity joints. This advanced technology allows the free movement of the joints in a way the patient wants. Smaller grades of pressure help to relax the tissues that allow ease in the movement of joints. Higher grades of pressure improve the pain-free mobility and alignment allowing the joint tissues to stretch.
  • Manual traction involves hands-on techniques to perform spinal decompression which include verbal segments of the spinal column. A controlled force is performed to relax the affected verbal discs. This therapy improves joint health and restores pain-free mobility. Mostly, it is used in PNF therapeutic exercises under the joint mobilization and manipulation techniques conjunction.
  • Muscle Energy Techniques (MET) - broad class therapy technique that involves the relaxation of muscles using gentle isometric contractions positioned against resistance controlled by the therapist. This technique is effective for hypertonic muscles to lengthen and strengthen them. Indirectly, MET also treats extremity joints by improving functionality, mobility, and alignment.
  • Soft Tissue Mobilization is a manual physical therapy performed to treat soft tissue injuries and optimize the muscle function. This technique involves pressurizing the muscles, ligaments, and tendons throughout the body in a specific way to relieve pain, and restores the functionality. Other goals of soft tissue mobilization include improve circulation, strengthen the tendons and ligaments, reduce adhesions, and improve myofascial extensibility and mobility.
  • Trigger point release treats and eliminates the neurophysiological mechanism causing the pain in the trigger points. Specific stretching of the muscle and direct manual pressure is the most effective treatment for the trigger points. The pain in the surrounding region of trigger points is resolved by the technique and pain-free movement improves.
  • Deep Friction Massage treats and breaks down the scar tissue to improve the mobility within the soft tissue structures of tendons, ligament and muscle by utilizing the transverse deep manual pressure on to the affected area. Moreover, it also prevents adherent scars from forming to stop the process. Deep friction massage is performed on sprained ligaments and injured muscles to reduce scarring and restore pain-free mobility of the targeted tissue.
  • Active Release Technique treats the muscles, tendons, and ligaments problems and optimizes the body function. This advanced non-invasive technique corrects soft tissue adhesions and restrictions.
  • Instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization is the range of ergonomically designed tools used by the clinicians to diagnose chronic inflamed soft tissue dysfunction that causes pain, stiffness, and restricted movement. ASTYM certified clinicians can undergo this mobilization.

Benefits of Manual Physiotherapy:

  • Balances the postural and muscle imbalance
  • Reduces stiffness
  • Decreases pain
  • Improves contractile and non-contractile tissue repair
  • Facilitates movement with faster recovery
  • Eliminates soft tissue inflammation

What is Acupuncture?

  • Acupuncture is one of many techniques used within Physiotherapy for the management of pain, soft tissue injuries and as a means of enhancing the body’s own healing chemicals to aid recovery and enhance rehabilitation.
  • It is believed that acupuncture enhances pain modulation via stimulation of the brain and spinal cord to produce natural pain relieving chemicals, such as endorphins, melatonin to promote sleep and serotonin to promote wellbeing.
  • These chemicals assist the body’s healing process, and can be used as a precursor to other physiotherapy techniques.

When do we use Acupuncture?

Acupuncture is mostly known for pain relief. This is one of our treatment modalities which can be very useful to treat muscle and joint pain such as back and neck pain, pelvic pain, pregnancy related back and pelvic girdle pain, tension headaches, knee pain, shoulder pain, fibromyalgia and chronic pain conditions.

What to expect ?

  • Acupuncture involves the use of single use, pre-sterilised, disposable needles of varying sizes that pierce the skin at specific acupuncture points.
  • A number of needles may be used at each treatment and these are typically left in position for about 20-30 minutes before being removed.
  • Acupuncture is not a pain free modality; the needle sites can produce an aching sensation and this is called ‘De qi’.
  • The acupuncture points used will be determined by the therapist, after a thorough examination of the patient. Clinicians may use traditional acupuncture points only, trigger points or a combination of both.
  • Patients will generally require about 3 sessions before the therapist can be certain of an effect, though some people may show immediate effects after a treatment.
  • The effect of acupuncture is cumulative and pain relief builds up as the treatment progresses.

How safe is acupuncture?

Very safe in comparison to other modalities used in medicine.

The clinic uses sterile, single use needles only so there is no risk of infection and clinicians are highly trained to follow the strictest hygiene standards.

Serious side effects are very rare; less than 1 in 10,000 treatments.

Your physiotherapist will run through a detailed history and examination to assess your suitability to acupuncture. You also need to alert the physiotherapist to any medical conditions you may suffer from such as diabetes, heart problems and low blood pressure.`

The auricular (so so called ear) acupuncture method is a method of treating and treating a disease by observing (or detecting) and stimulating a specific area of the auricle (ie, an auricular point). Among various acupuncture and moxibustion methods in acupuncture and medicine, auricular acupuncture is a relatively unique and effective treatment.

The auricular acupuncture method has its own stimulation area. Although it is concentrated on a small auricle, the number of auricular points is second only to the body cavity. In particular, it also has the advantages of diagnosis, prevention, treatment, and health care. The application of certain areas of the ear for the diagnosis and treatment of diseases originated in ancient China, but it has really made great progress and formed a relatively complete therapy nowadays. Among them, Dr. P. Nogier of France published his auricular map in the mid-1950s, which played an important role in promoting the development of the auricular acupuncture method.

Auricular acupuncture is widely used, and according to statistics, it has been applied to the prevention, treatment and health care of more than 150 kinds of diseases. Including a variety of painful diseases, such as headache, migraine, trigeminal neuralgia, sciatica, etc.; a variety of inflammatory diseases, such as acute conjunctivitis, tonsillitis, pharyngitis; allergies and allergic diseases such as urticaria, allergies Rhinitis and some dysfunctional diseases such as arrhythmia, hypertension, and neurasthenia. Especially in recent years, ear acupuncture is more effective than other therapies in healing smoking cessation, weight loss and treatment of cosmetic skin diseases (such as youth acne, chloasma, etc.) and competitive syndrome.

The auricular acupuncture method is generally safe, but if the external ear has obvious inflammation or pathological changes, including frostbite ulceration, infection, ulcers and eczema, also pregnant women with history of habitual abortion , this method should not be used.

DIAGNOSE AND TREATMENT PROCEDURES FROM HOLISTIC COMPLEMENTARY MEDICINE

Bioresonance is based on the findings of quantum physics. The most important observation of this branch of research is that any matter consists of two components

  • the particle itself
  • the radiation

Any material particle can be allocated to a particular electromagnetic field. This can also be applied to any cell or any organ of the human body. Erich Rasche and Franz Morell (MO-RA) used this insight and developed the diagnosis and treatment approach of bio-resonance. They used the principle of waves and frequencies derived from radio and television technology and transferred it to medical technology, and was designed to adjust one’s body energy patterns and effectively ‘tune’ them to a harmonious frequency which can help with problems hidden deep in one’s physiology.

What is the MORA method?

In the mid-70s, Franz Morell and his son-in-law, electrical engineer Erich Rasche, searched together for an alternative treatment method. They transferred the principle of waves and frequencies which have no side effects, from quantum physics to medical technology.

The result of the intensive research was a technology which is able to absorb the body’s own oscillations, analyse, correct and return them to the body in an adjusted form. This was the birth of the classic bioresonance treatment, the method of MORA

PAPIMI -Nanopulse Therapy

The most effective device for natural therapy, rehabilitation, stimulation, wellness and athletic performance boost!

Papimi device is a pulsed magnetic field generator. The application of the Papimi pulsed magnetic field is not only limited to treatment / rehabilitation, but it also supports maintenance of health and wellness. In addition, it improves athletic performance, as it has been repeatedly confirmed by scientific research and thousands of users worldwide.

Papimi nanopulses do not simply treat the symptoms but further affects the deeper source of health problems identified at the cellular level. The unique magnetic nanopulses, boost the transmembrane potential of the cells by increasing permeability to ions, and therefore improving energy supply to them. This results in the overall restoration and enchancement of the normal operation of the body.

The operation of the device is absolutely safe for both the patient and the operator. Moreover, the application is easy, painless, non-invasive, with hardly any restrictions, over the clothes and ofcourse without increasing the exposed tissues’ temperature. It should be noted that after twenty years of use so far, no negative side effects have ever been reported.

The secret of success lies in the characteristics of the magnetic pulses emitted. More specifically, the pulses are very short in duration (instant) but carrying extremely high power. Thus, high penetration is achieved even in deeper tissues. In short, for all these reasons, the Papimi device offers impressive results in a wide range of applications, including:

Papimi device has been tested and successfully passed every trial required by the European standards and laws, and has been certified with CE medical (CE0044) by the notified bodies HEEQAC S.A. and TUEV Nord Cert GmbH. Moreover the producing company is certified for ISO9001:2008, ISO13485:2003 + AC2007, and certified for its conformity to the European directive MDD 93/42/EEC regarding the manufacturing of medical devices.

CERTIFICATES

97% EFFICIENCY RECOVERY ACCELERATION

WINBACK energy causes ion flow in the cellular environment with extremely fast electrical oscillations. These oscillations lead to the permeation of the plasma membrane. Thus, intracellular and extracellular exchanges are promoted and, consequently, faster tissue healing.

81% EFFICIENCY ANALGESIA IMMEDIATE AND PERMANENT

WINBACK energy inhibits the sensation of pain for more than 48 hours. This phenomenon is explained by the oscillations of energy that disrupt the conventional alternation (hyperpolarization, depolarization) of the pain signal. Thus, the nerve impulses are stopped and the patient immediately feels the beneficial effect.

6x TIMES FASTER ACCELERATION OF DRAINAGE

As the WINBACK energy intensity increases , the natural resistance of the biological tissues converts the energy into heat (diathermy), which receives vascular and lymphatic flows to ensure the thermoregulation of the target part of the body. The increase of local heat causes the vascularization of the less irrigated areas (fibrosis, contractions), thus releasing the movement.

WINBACK energy is a high frequency current ranging between 300 kHz and 1MHz. Accelerates the 'natural regeneration' of biological tissues. Its low intensity makes it a completely non-invasive and 100% natural energy for the human body.

The WINBACK TECAR treatment is ideal for the treatment of all musculoskeletal problems. In current practice, the frequency of sessions is one to three per week and is adjusted by the therapist according to the patient's needs. If necessary, treatment can be performed daily.

FASTEST RECOVERY

WINBACK energy causes ion flow in the cellular environment with extremely fast electrical oscillations. These oscillations increase the permeability of the cell membrane. Thus, intracellular and extracellular exchanges are promoted, increasing biostimulation and tissue healing.

IMMEDIATE AND PERMANENT ANALGESIA

WINBACK energy inhibits the sensation of pain for more than 48 hours. This phenomenon is explained by the energy oscillations that disrupt the conventional signal exchange of pain. Thus, the nerve impulses are stopped and the patient feels immediate relief from the pain. Rapid elimination of pain is vital for a more effective recovery.

LYMPH DRAINAGE

By increasing the intensity of WINBACK energy, the natural resistance of biological tissues converts energy into heat, improving the processes of aspiration, pressure and reabsorption and accelerating lymphatic drainage techniques. The results are immediate, the increase of local heat causes the vascularization of the less irrigated areas (fibrosis, contractions), thus releasing the movement.

ACUTE DISEASES

An immediate 4-session treatment can be given without side effects, depending on the patient's condition and the severity of the injury. The duration of the session is about 10 to 15 minutes and can be combined with a kinesiotherapy session.

CHRONIC DISEASES

A treatment of 8 to 10 sessions at a rate of 2 to 3 per week is necessary for long-term tissue reorganization. The duration of the sessions is decided depending on the area and the pathology and ranges between 15 to 20 minutes with the possibility of combining with a kinesiotherapy session.
